“Us nerds are the oppressed and downtrodden,” raps one MC in following trailer for Nerdcore for Life. But these days, it’s kind of hard to feel bad for nerds. They’re everywhere. Nerds have traded in the swirlies for the spotlight and, most likely, a sweet new Wii. Nerd favorites like RPGs and sci-fi movies and gaming systems aren’t some niche entertainment; they’re business juggernauts. We’re all nerds now. Even the rappers. Here, a trailer for Dan Lemoreux’s documentary on the nerd rapping phenomenon.

Nerds used to trade their milk money and their sister’s panties to get their mitts on the 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special. It’s an artistic disaster but a collector’s dream, with a special appearance by Chewie’s family, including his son, Lumpy. These days, watching the show is as easy as going to YouTube. Except: George Lucas has already shut down the clip several times. Too bad his fans use the Force.

How badly did we all want a light saber? Here’s the Christmas horror we narrowly avoided when mom opted to give us the chemistry set instead.

Very cool early animation from Disney, showing the genesis of John Lasseter’s version of Where the Wild Things Are. You know who likes this stuff? Nerrrrrddds.

Michel Gondry isn’t just one of the most imaginative, talented, adorable, and not-at-all-bad-looking directors working. He can also solve a Rubik’s Cube with his feet. And with that, a new fetish group is born. (Except, is it a hoax?)

“If you’re blue and you don’t know where to go to, why don’t you go where fashion sits / RARARARRRARRRARRAR.” Everybody loves Peter Boyle.
