Listening

Daft Punk, Discovery

I first heard this album last week and it’s purely coincidence that this record is today’s top review on Pitchfork: really, I swear. Okay, so you don’t care, because you know what a great album this is. Anyway, I, too, think it’s a fantastic album (and I couldn’t stand their debut, Homework). This album has depth, serious depth, and seems to, in places, take some serious tips from the Phoenix camp (Todd Edwards, who produced a brilliant remix of ‘If I Ever Feel Better’ for the latter, contributes vocals to Discovery on one its (many standout) tracks, ‘Face to Face.’ House, easy listening, big beat, synth metal (!): again, this album has depth, serious depth.
