A few days late on this, but here's an interesting thread from New York Times East Africa correspondent Abdi Latif Dahir on what it was like to watch Somalia's presidential election up close over the weekend.
First round of voting is over and counting has gotten underway now. We just heard four loud bangs which made people go quiet. One police officer said they were possible mortar attacks but said they happening “at a distance.” He also asked us to stay calm. #SomaliElections2022
