Baldwin and Buckley show what political disagreement can look like

Political speakers and campus protests are everywhere in the news. None of it's cute. For the first time in 20 years, Berkeley police have been authorized to use pepper spray. Professors call for class boycotts. Insults get treated as ideas.

But for a reminder that humans weren't always so pathetic, here's James Baldwin in 1965 debating William F. Buckley Jr. at Cambridge on the question, "Is the American Dream at the expense of the American Negro?" Baldwin won in a landslide.
