The Morning News is seeking Fall/Winter editorial fellows. As a fellow you’ll work closely with the founding editors to learn the ins and outs of an online magazine. You will also contribute to the magazine’s daily maintenance, find new writers, and have the opportunity to pick up new editorial skills. This is a six-month, part-time commitment.
Here to tell you more about the experience are our Spring/Summer fellows, Emma and Sam. What did you think of being an editorial fellow at The Morning News?
Emma: “Thanks to TMN I made my first ‘internet friends’; was able to impress friends IRL with weird internet-gleaned news and facts; learned fact-checking needn’t be as scary as it always sounds; and discovered some new bands. It’s the perfect mixture of work and play: apply!”
Thanks Emma. Sam, how about you?
Sam: “TMN is one of the coolest groups of people I’ve ever fallen halfway-backwards into, and I’m constantly honored to be part of it. And they’re all great at Twitter.”
Excellent. Anything to add, Emma and Sam?
“Pros: Not an ‘intern’; can do all of your work in bed; will be compensated for any articles you write for the site.”
It’s perfect, is what you’re saying?
“Cons: Will not be compensated for daily tasks; might never meet any of the very cool staff IRL.”
There you have it. To apply, send us a brief email specifying any and all related experience and skills—especially writing and editing, social media, coding, image or video editing—as well as any clips and links (Twitter, Tumblr, blog) to [email protected] by midnight (ET) Friday, Aug. 29, 2014. Thanks.
