Nuclear warheads launched from North Korea, Iraq, China, Iran, U.S., Pakistan, India, and France have all but destroyed 22 of the world’s 50 largest cities.

Look, if you can’t take two seconds on preview to see if someone else has posted the same story… For Chrissakes, how long have we been doing this? And CoolDev, don’t just front page some article from Drudge about the end of the world when you don’t have anything provocative to add. Quoting Elmer Fudd doesn’t count. We all have windows. We know it’s the apocalypse.

Oops. Sorry. X-post with VoiceOfReason. And Cool Dev, where did you get that link, Drudge Report?

cricketjones, “That’s All Folks” is not Elmer Fudd. It’s Porky Pig.

Damn. X-post with cricketjones. But that’s Porky Pig he quoted not Elmer Fudd.

I knew those Nazis in Washington would kill us all sooner or later.

Godwin! Thread’s dead.

It looks like the entire downtown is in flames. Thick black smoke is everywhere. The heat on the back of my neck is intense. I’m typing this from under my desk with a t-shirt over my mouth and nose because I’m too frightened to go outside. There aren’t even sirens on the street. The only sounds I hear are cries of anguish echoing off the broken concrete and ethereal harmonies from a doomed choir of departing souls.

Godwin! Thread’s dead.
Not even close, Dreamsickle. Godwin’s Law goes into effect only if I say the person I’m arguing with is a Nazi. I referenced the Nazis with regard to our newly elected government, which has brought death and destruction upon all our heads. That doesn’t count.

Yes it does. Thread’s dead.

They say the hospitals have shut down and the police aren’t even on duty. Why bother? It’s every man for himself out there now. Chaos and Anarchy and Pain. Ayn Rand reincarnated as Vishnu the Destroyer.
posted by ValleyForgeGirl at 8:10 AM on April 14
Actually, Dreamsickle, the originator of Godwin’s Law was only making the claim that in any prolonged argument on the internet one side would eventually and inevitably compare the other to Nazis, with certain kinds of arguments degenerating faster than others. He never meant to say that the discussion was necessarily over at that point. I would link to the article in Wired but my hair is beginning to fall out in clumps.

I’m more than 30 miles from the nearest blast and it’s so quiet here. Peaceful, even. It looks like it’s snowing. Does anyone know what that white stuff is?

LitterRunt, it sounds like you should get to your basement. Are you WiFi?

SonnyD, ValleyForgeGirl, LitterRunt, everyone, please. If you want to discuss the nuclear Armageddon, do your posting here. Discussion in this thread should be limited to reasons why this thread shouldn’t exist or why you love Donnie Darko.

LitterRunt, you can probably get your question answered at the other thread.

Looking out onto the ash-filled street, the poetry of T.S. Eliot seems more poignant than ever.

Nice try, PalJoey, but a self-post would be a link back to my own site. That was a link to a comment I made here on MeFi six months ago.

I don’t like to be the one to say it, but I think we’re in a gray area here.

I just went down to the White Hen and helped myself to about six cans of beans. I didn’t take them all in case anyone else is still alive in my neighborhood.

Do you know what else used to be fun but isn’t anymore? Flash cartoons. When was the last time you wasted an entire afternoon hoping your boss wouldn’t catch you playing some silly Flash game at your desk?
posted by VoiceOfReason at 8:49 AM on April 16
PalJoey? FandomMenace? Come on, I just solicited comments on a topic without providing a link! That’s a softball, guys! And I buried it deep in an unrelated thread instead of front paging it! Isn’t anyone going to flame me even a little?
posted by VoiceOfReason at 6:55 PM on April 16
Anyway, I’ve started a new thread.
And I didn’t include a warning that’s it’s not work-safe.
