And now a brief chat with a new Sustaining Member, Kirsten B.!
Kirsten, you found us through the Tournament of Books—when was that? Probably in 2022. I am fairly certain that I heard about it on a book-related podcast, though I don't recall which one it was.
Well, we're glad you're here. What keeps you coming back? I find the selection of books to be wide-ranging and of interest to me. In addition, the judges’ commentary and their approach to choosing the winner for their rounds are so different, entertaining, intelligent, and thoughtful, I find myself navigating to the ToB first thing each day of the tournament.
Very cool! Any particular reason you decided to support today? I have a personal philosophy that content creators, like creators of other things such as art, journalism, and literature, should be paid for their work by the people who are enjoying it to the best of the consumer’s ability. Once I realized that ToB was something I looked forward to—and was of a caliber that I respected—financial support was a no-brainer.
TMN and the ToB exist because of the wonderful folks like Kirsten who support. If you have the means, join TMN today as a Sustaining Member.
