And now a brief chat with a new Sustaining Member, Amy O.!
Amy, you found us through our annual Tournament of Books, is that right? I became aware of the ToB in 2013. I would typically choose a few books from the shortlist to read each year, but this year I decided to try to read everything on the shortlist for the first time.
Wow, a completist! May we ask why? I appreciate the ToB selections because they broaden my horizons and encourage me to read about topics and in styles and genres that are outside my comfort zone. I have found that since graduating from college and no longer having assigned reading, it's a little too easy for me to get stuck in a reading rut, and the ToB helps me avoid that. Several of the books that I've read solely because they were on the shortlist have become favorites.
Very cool. Well, any reason you decided to become a Sustaining Member today? I don't think I even realized that supporting TMN and ToB was an option until I read the shortlist post from December more closely (i.e., not just skimming for the titles), but when I saw the mention of Sustaining Members, I knew I wanted to chip in to keep things going. Thank you for all you do!
