Three stories about books that we liked this week.
1. "With ‘I Hate Men,’ a French Feminist Touches a Nerve" by Laura Cappelle
In an interview at her home in Paris, Coffin said men have “had their chance” to push for equality. “They could have taken the hints a long time ago, but apparently it hasn’t created much enthusiasm.”
2. "Blurbed to Death" by Lila Shapiro
“I wouldn’t eat the sandwiches,” recalled Myriam Gurba, one of the activists. “Those are the enemies’ sandwiches.”
3. "The Great First-Half 2021 Book Preview" at The Millions, which we were personally happy to see includes Everything Now, the new creative nonfiction book from TMN's Rosecrans Baldwin, forthcoming in June.
Folks, we made it to 2021—and, frankly, it looks a lot like last year. We’re still dealing with the pandemic, on-going civil unrest, and general malaise, but thankfully there are books.
